In cases of wet weather, local councils may choose to close the playing fields under their control. In these circumstances, competition matches will be cancelled and re-scheduled to a later date. If too many competition matches are washed out, it may be necessary to cancel some semi-final matches to permit all competition matches to be played. Team managers will be contacted by a Thornleigh Thunder FC committee member as soon as possible if competition matches are washed out. Team managers will then be responsible for contacting all members of their team to advise them that the match has been washed out. In cases of wet weather, you can also check the Latest News content at the GHFA and the NWSWS websites to determine if matches have been washed out.
Note that training sessions must also be cancelled if Hornsby Shire Council closes its grounds. Training on fields when they have been closed by council not only makes offenders possibly liable to fines, it is also dangerous to players and detrimental to the playing surface of the fields. Each team manager is responsible for ringing the Hornsby Council wet weather line to determine if the fields are open for training.
In cases of wet weather where fields have not been closed, it is left to the coaches' discretion whether scheduled training sessions will be held. It is important that the players' wellbeing is considered when deciding whether or not to hold training sessions.
