Welcome to Thornleigh Basketball Website

Thornleigh Basketball was established in late 2004 based on the program coordinated by John Gallie at Thornleigh West Public School and taking advantage of the excellent new facilities at the "Brickpit".

Thornleigh Basketball is a division of Thornleigh Sports Club playing in the Hornsby Kuringai Basketball Association (HKBA). We have approximately 30 – 40 teams from Primary School, High School and Senior teams, mostly from the Westleigh, Thornleigh and Normanhurst areas.

Primary School
Teams are organised by our Vice Presidents Helen Georgiou and John Gallie. They are both teachers at two local schools. TSC (Thornleigh Sports Club) - Basketball teams are not organised by, involved with or have anything to do with these two schools. It's purely coincidental and convenient that players are encouraged from these schools as both Helen and John have been involved with basketball at the local and representative level since it's inception in the Hornsby Kuringai area.

High School
Teams generally roll on from their Primary school teams, or you can put your own team together. As with most sports teams at this age, players move in and out of teams depending on commitment and school changes. The High School teams are organised through their Team Manager, registering with Thornleigh Basketball Club.

Teams organise themselves through friends and contacts. They also register first through Thornleigh Basketball Club.

Competition Seasons
Basketball has two competition seasons operating alongside the school year. The first season (A) are Terms 1 and 2 and the second season (B) Terms 3 and 4. Primary teams are structured / graded in the competition as years at school not age. Years 1 & 2 (sometimes referred to as Miniball), Years 3 & 4 and Years 5 & 6. High School teams are the same, Years 7 & 8, Years 9 & 10.
